Canterbury 2025
Sunday morning, 4 a.m. – just rolled out of bed and already on the bus to England. After 11 hours on the road, we had our very first encounter with British people and food when we went through French and British border controls and boarded the ferry. After an early dinner on board, we were already able to see the White Cliffs of Dover. Later that evening, we moved into our shared houses on the University of Kent’s campus.
On our first full day in England, we visited Canterbury and joined a sightseeing tour. We started at the Marlowe Theatre, continued through small streets with lovely shops, and ended our tour at Canterbury Cathedral.
The following day was the most exciting one: we visited London! After a one-hour bus ride, we began our tour at the O2 Arena. We took the underground to Tower Bridge, walked past the Tower of London and admired the Shard and continued on to the London Eye, Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel, Elizabeth Tower, the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, and finally Chinatown. Afterwards, one group went to Camden Town, while the other group walked to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Borough Market, and the Tate Modern Museum.
On Wednesday, we visited three different coastal towns: Broadstairs, Margate, and Whitstable. After a great day at the beach, we started packing. The next day, we went to the city centre of Canterbury once again and began our journey back home at 4 p.m. After a very long bus ride, we arrived in Bamberg with lots of new memories and very little sleep.
